Blog Series: Identity (Week 8)

Over the last several weeks, we have taken time together to uncover exactly who we are in Christ! This is the concluding post in the series. By now, I hope we are all convinced that God does not want us to live defeated and unproductive lives. He desires for us to know who we are and live victoriously!
I am Christ's ambassador & the righteousness of God!
How would you define an ambassador? You might agree that a synonym for ambassador is representative. You and I are called to be representatives for Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21(NIV) reads we are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Wow, what an awesome responsibility!
Jesus trusts you and I to represent Him. He trusts us to lead people to the Father. We must first know who we are before we can effectively do this. It is God's desire that all be reconciled to Him. He wants each and every person to be changed from an enemy to a friend. That only happens through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. If you are a business owner, then you know the importance of having the right representative. Imagine having a wonderful product or service to share with the world, but then having the wrong person represent it. This could taint your brand before you have the chance to really get started.
Are we representing Jesus well? If our identity is in Him, are people able to see Him when they look at us? The scripture says it is as if God is making His appeal through us. Do our lives make people want to run from God or be reconciled to God? Our identity should be so wrapped in Him that 'right living' is naturally displayed. Not 'perfect living' but 'right living'.
People need to see that in Christ, the expectation is righteousness and not perfection.
When we accept the gracious gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and trust in God then we become the righteousness of God. This is the life that an ambassador for Christ lives. God took the time to uniquely design each one of us. You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit them together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it. (Psalm 139:13-14 TLB) God is pleased with the way He created you! He did some of His best work when He designed you!
Show your appreciation by knowing your identity; know exactly who you are in Christ!
Let Him heal your soul!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, We thank you for creating us in Your image! Jesus, teach us to know who we are in You. Help us discover that our destinies are unlocked when develop in who You created us to be. We thank you that we are becoming more comfortable with our identities daily. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen.
