Strong Refuge

When I look at this image, I think one simple word...life.  I'm sure you, like myself and countless others, have experienced the storms and raging seas of life.  One moment you are going about your day as usual when suddenly an unimaginable event or situation changes the course of your life.  You feel as if you have no one to talk to and no one to turn to.  You feel like you are...drowning.  (Click here to read a related blog on panic.)  I want to encourage you today and tell you that you will not drown in this situation!  This picture is our assurance of that!  Let me explain; look at the person standing by the guard rail, that is you and the waves crashing all around represent your problem/situation.  If that were all that was captured in the picture we would surely be in trouble, but you see the large, strong structure in the middle of the photograph...that represents God.

Nahum 1:7 says The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes.  He is close to those who trust in him.  You see, God is our refuge; a refuge is a shelter or protection from danger or trouble.  Look at the picture again.  Do you see how the water is around the structure, but the structure is not affected by the storm?  The seas can rage, but it will never move or overtake God.  The person is guarded by the rail throughout all of this and I would like to think that the rail represents the Blood of Jesus.  If Jesus is your Savior then there is nothing to fear because Jesus holds all power in His hand!  I know what you are thinking.  Look!  The water is coming up on the backside of the refuge and the person will be washed away!  Look just a little bit closer, do you see that little door?  God always provides!

In the midst of the raging seas of life we must choose to walk through the door and 'go inside'.  When we choose to 'go inside' we make the decision to not be washed away by our troubles.  Making the decision to 'go inside' means that we go into the secret place with our Heavenly Father, we spend time in prayer, cry out to Him, and worship Him.

No matter what is going on, stay close to Him and you will be safe.  You see Friend, this is what Haven of Hope is all about!  Receiving the encouragement we need to draw close to God as He heals all of the hurting places.  Let Him heal your soul!

Your Sister in Christ,

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, we come right now just to say thank you.  Thank you Lord for being so good to us in the midst of our troubles.  I speak Your peace and healing over anyone reading this and pray that you will remind them of who you are and who they are in you.  I decree and declare restoration over their lives and we thank you in advance.  In Jesus' Name, Amen.
