Delay or Dead End?
Although
patience is said to be a virtue; it is NOT one of my strengths. I truly have to work at it. Patience involves so many different
components like waiting, trusting, slowing down and even delays. Have you ever experienced a delay in your
life?
Have you ever been at the airport, in a hurry to get home, only to find out that your flight has been delayed? You feel like screaming and throwing a fit, but being taken away by airport security would only make matters worse so you settle yourself into one of those hard airport seats…and wait. Would you walk out of the airport and give up on getting home? Of course not! Most people do not decide to leave the airport when a flight delay occurs. Most people choose to sit it out and wait with the other passengers. How do we determine a delay from a dead end? When a flight is delayed, it is not the end of one’s journey; it is simply a change in the schedule.
A dead end signifies the end; there is no way to continue on that path. We must recognize the difference between delays and dead ends. It would be a shame to give up and think you are at a dead end when God simply meant it as a delay. Habakkuk 2:3 (CEB) reads …if it delays, wait for it; for it is surely coming; it will not be late. When God delays something in your life you may feel like screaming, throwing a fit, or giving up, but wait for it. God is surely coming! God uses delays in our lives for various reasons, but one thing is for sure, if you love God even the delay will work for your good (Romans 8:28 KJV). The next time you experience a delay, don’t mistake it for a dead end and give up. Wait on God, trust His process and you will soon see that your delay has been divinely orchestrated by the mighty hand of God. Let Him heal your soul!

Your Sister in Christ,
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for who you are in our lives. Teach us to hear clearly from you and know the difference between delays and dead ends in our lives. If it is a delay, help us to wait patiently on you. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
