Jesus’ Final Days Leading up to the Crucifixion and Resurrection
Part III: The Death of Jesus (or so They Thought)
[Make sure you check out Part I and Part II.]
When we left off the other day on Part II, The priests and elders were working up a plot to have Jesus arrested and killed. They were hopeful that their plan would have Jesus out of the way once and for all. Since they did not believe Jesus was who He said He was, they were misconceived in their thinking. They thought killing Him would take care of the situation, but they had no idea that killing Him would only fulfill and complete God's divine plan.
As Jesus has The Last Supper with the disciples, He prepares them for all that is take place. The disciples struggled to receive everything the Master was saying. They hoped there was another way that would not end with Him dying. They could not fathom that death was the only way to redeem all of mankind. They stood by in horror as Judas betrayed their Teacher, He was arrested, placed on trial and eventually led to the Cross. They lost all hope as they watched it all play out. I imagine things seemed to be quickly spiraling out of control. The Gospels record the events in great detail:

Then, there was the crowd. Hopeful for a King on Sunday and hungry for blood on Friday. When Jesus refused to defend or save Himself when He was on trial, they must have lost all hope that He could ever save them. They fell right into the plans of the priests and elders.
The priests, elders, disciples, and crowd all failed to realize that Jesus was no ordinary man. They did not understand that their disappointment in Him would not change what He was destined to do. He was determined to fulfill the Will of His Father. They all stood by and watched Him be arrested, tried, and crucified, but never fully understood who He was.
By Sunday morning, something miraculous had taken place! Jesus was raised from the dead with ALL power in His hands! He's not dead; He is very much alive! I bet there is something in your life today that you have lost all hope in and seems like a dead situation. I dare you to give it to Jesus today and allow Him to touch it with that same Resurrection power! That is why He came! That is why He died! That is why He got up! Let Him heal your soul!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Please forgive me for having misconceived hope in You. Teach me to truly tap into your Resurrection power and never live defeated again. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
